My Gran (Ida Cooper née Waumsley) had a large number of loose photos kept in a suitcase as well as a couple of partially filled photo albums. Some of them had been passed down from her parents (Ethel & George). My wonderful Mum kept them safe.
Both Ida’s father, George Henry Waumsley, and her brother, George Harold Waumsley, were very enthusiastic about photography and a large proportion of the photos were taken and also developed by them. It does seem however they were not in the habit of writing the date, subjects, place or event the photographs captured on the back. A little detective work has been deployed.
Over the past few years I have scanned almost 1000 photos, postcards and newspaper clippings. I have started the process of restoring them and researching the people and places captured in them. I wanted a way of sharing my progress with family, and hoping to gather other photo’s of the Waumsleys, Winterbottoms & Coopers that are in family members collections.
Photographs restored by week. Some posts maybe password protected.
